The weekend of 17–18 October marked an eventful first outing for NRG Active, the curated health and wellness experiences now offered by NRG Fitness and designed with health tourism in mind. Delivered in association with Tourism Booster Ja, the weekend centred on the JK Breast Cancer Foundation - Women with a Purpose Cancer Run/Walk 5K.

Participants gathered on Saturday afternoon at Seaside Villa in Treasure Beach, which served as the base for the next twenty-four hours. Once everyone had settled in, the afternoon opened with a short devotional exercise. From there the group spent time getting to know one another and exploring the villa and its surroundings at their own pace.

As evening approached, the party left for dinner at Jack Sprat Restaurant in Treasure Beach. There they met Ms Janette Kaloo, Founder and Director of the JK Breast Cancer Foundation. Over the meal she spoke about her personal journey and battle with breast cancer, the vision behind the foundation and the 5K, practical health insights, and testimonies of God’s mercies in her life. She also answered questions from those around the table.

The dinner provided space for Ms Yaneke Sailsman, Director of Tourism Booster Ja, and Mr Reece Whyte, Founder of NRG Fitness, to outline their shared vision and mission for this new strand of NRG Fitness offerings. After the meal the group returned to the villa for a relaxed evening by the pool, games, and further conversation.

On Sunday morning everyone assembled at the start line for the 5K. Warm-up was led by Aaron Swaby of NRG Fitness, after which participants set off on the run or walk in support of the fight against breast cancer. Once the event concluded, the group reconvened for breakfast at Grego’s Seafood Bar & Grill (on the Beach), where conversation and laughter continued.

At the close of breakfast Mr Whyte noted that the weekend had served a dual purpose: it launched NRG Active and also marked the start of the NRG Fitness Run Club. Those taking part in the curated experience then returned to the villa to recover and unwind.

The weekend offered a clear example of how fitness, community, and purpose can sit together. For NRG Fitness it represented the opening chapter of experiences that aim to bring people together around movement, place, and shared causes.
