Motion 5K: Supporting Brighter Smiles
Pink October brought a full calendar of activities across Junction, and Oral Health Month added another layer of focus on everyday wellbeing. Right in the middle of it all sat a special one for Team NRG: the Motion 5K Run/Walk.
From the start, the idea was simple. The founder of NRG Fitness believed a local business should give back to the community it calls home. In 2025 the first Motion 5K adopted the theme “Not a Race, A Movement.” The goal was practical—raise funds to help the Southern Regional Health Authority’s Junction Health Centre recover after Hurricane Beryl. For the first time, the community of Junction in South St. Elizabeth had its own 5K Run/Walk, and people showed up. A total of $250,000 was raised and presented to the Southern Regional Health Authority.
The second staging took place on Sunday, 12 July. This time Team NRG focused support on the Junction Health Centre’s Dental Clinic and Laboratory. The continued effort led to an invitation to the special opening on Thursday, 8 October 2026. From there, NRG was also invited to take part as a sponsor of the Oral Health Month Quiz, where kids from local primary schools spent the day learning and enjoying themselves. On that occasion the team presented additional dental supplies and tools valued at over $250,000.
Why a Movement, Not Just a Race
The Motion 5K was never only about covering five kilometres. It was about getting people of different ages and fitness levels outside together, raising awareness for physical wellness, and directing support where the community needed it most. Participants walked, jogged, or ran at their own pace. Streets filled with energy, and the day reminded everyone that looking after health can be a shared effort.
That same spirit carried into the oral-health activities. Supporting the dental clinic and laboratory, then joining the school quiz, showed how movement and everyday health awareness can sit side by side. Team NRG wants to keep embodying community development through active living and total health awareness.

Practical Ways to Keep the Movement Going
You do not need a race bib to stay involved. Here are a few simple steps you can take this week:
Start with a short walk or easy jog on a familiar route in Junction. Even 20–30 minutes counts.
Pair movement with a quick oral-health habit—brush for two minutes or check that you have a next dental visit planned.
Invite a friend or family member to join you. Many people find it easier to stay consistent when someone else is moving too.
If you already train at NRG, ask a trainer about adding light running or walking intervals to your current sessions.
A simple beginner-friendly session could look like this:
Five-minute easy warm-up walk.
Alternate one minute of slightly faster walking or light jogging with two minutes of easy recovery, repeated four to six times.
Finish with a few minutes of gentle stretching.
Progress looks different for everyone. Showing up regularly matters more than speed or distance.
Gratitude and What Comes Next
Every participant, supporter, sponsor, and partner made the contributions possible. The communities at large also played their part. The funds and supplies went straight to local care, and the school quiz gave young people a fun way to learn about oral health.
NRG Fitness remains more than a gym in Pines Plaza. It is a place where people train, connect, and find ways to support the wider Junction community. The Motion 5K is one clear example of that approach.
If you missed the last staging, keep an eye on NRG channels for the next one. In the meantime, come by the gym, try a class, or simply start with a walk.
The movement continues one step at a time.
